Entrepreneurship Program Officer

The Programs Officer will work with the Entrepreneurship Manager, ELLA in the planning and
implementation of YSpace ELLA programs and team’s administrative systems to accelerate growth for
participating companies. The Program Officer will execute the delivery of relevant programming for target
entrepreneur groups including fireside chats, workshops, one-on-ones, peer sessions, networking events
and showcase events. The Officer will monitor the progress of the participants from application to
graduation, ensuring continual improvement of the programming and strategies based on entrepreneur
feedback and industry best practices. The Officer will also play a key role in managing relationships with
and between clients, mentors and experts.

Programs Planning & Operations
• Collaborate with the Entrepreneurship Manager to develop and execute entrepreneurial
programming for participants and community members to scale up their businesses
• Design, develop and deliver relevant resources and tools to complement programming
• Conduct operational and impact reviews of existing and potential new programs to identify
effectiveness and impact for participating members and presents results to Entrepreneurship
• Communicate and advertise upcoming programs and workshops with start-ups, entrepreneurs,
and partners to create awareness and engagement opportunities
• Create and deliver presentations to the community about the services and programs developed by
the Entrepreneurship unit
• Work with the Entrepreneurship Manager to create and document process flows to inform
Standard Operating Procedures for any entrepreneurial-related programs
• Assist the Entrepreneurship Manager in collaborating with community stakeholders to advance
partnerships and create new engagement opportunities
• Work with community stakeholders, partners and subject matter experts to host events and
educational seminars
• Assist the Entrepreneurship Manager in managing and reviewing the Entrepreneurs-in-Residence
(EiR) and Fractional Executive offerings to ensure they align with the needs of program
• Conduct regular check-ins with program participants to identify challenges and assist them in
overcoming those challenges by connecting them to community experts and resources
• Conduct regular check-ins with mentors to share information about program participants and to
ensure that the participant is getting cohesive guidance and support from program staff and their
• Act as first point of contact for inquiries as well as feedback from program participants and
members of the public
Metrics Tracking
• Gather information on ELLA participants’ company metrics and success stories
• Engage with program alumni to gather their annual metrics and to track success stories
• Identify relevant participant companies to highlight in media and information requests
• Work with Entrepreneurship unit staff to develop strategy and messaging around what metrics
and stories should be tracked to promote the companies, the programs and York University
• Develop summary reports on key findings and metrics that can be used in the Annual Report and
Year in Review documentation
• Utilize report and metrics to drive understanding of the support and programming that the startups require for growth
• Work with the Entrepreneurship Manager and the Program Coordinator to complete monthly,
quarterly and annual reporting for funders, YSpace and VPRI
• Completion of university degree in Business, Entrepreneurship or related field
• Minimum 2 years of recent related experience in a project or program coordination or
management capacity, with experience in administration, relationship management, engagement
and event planning
• Experience with start-ups or fundraising an asset
• Strong written and oral communication skills to elicit information and provide accurate
information clearly and concisely
• Demonstrated administrative support experience from implementing project procedures and
guidelines, ensuring consistent flow of processes, maintaining constant communication for
complete lifecycle management of companies, and developing surveys to solicit and generate
• Ability to work effective both independently and as a member of a team
• Ability to exercise initiative and good judgement
• Ability to exercise tact, diplomacy and maintain confidentiality
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and frequent interruptions
• Punctual and good organization and time management skills
• Proficiency in MS Office, Sharepoint, One Drive, Slack and Adobe Acrobat
• Knowledge of entrepreneurial lifecycle and experience working with entrepreneurs is considered
an asset
• Proficiency in French is considered an asset
