MaRS is pleased to announce the Faurecia Biosensing Safety Challenge, a new competition set to award one grand-prize winner $25,000 USD.

Created by Faurecia (a $20-billion global tech company) the Biosensing Safety Challenge asks Canadian ventures and institutions to provide novel tech — sensors, software, and much more — for detecting at least one sign, symptom or biomarker of a stroke, heart attack or diabetic event of a vehicle passenger.

Ideal solutions for this challenge can come from various sectors and disciplines: voice recognition software to identify slurred speech; a sensor which can detect breathing or heart rate; and so on. An info sheet with additional signs, symptoms, and biomarkers can be found here.
