Creative Destuction Lab

Creative Destruction Lab (“CDL”), originated at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management, is a world-leading seed-stage program for massively scalable science-based ventures. The CDL program has created billions in equity-value since its inception by targeting companies that have the potential to transform our social, industrial, and economic landscape.

CDL helps innovators transition from science projects to high-growth companies, inviting some of the world’s top, early-stage technology ventures from around the globe for an innovative 9-month program. After a rigorous application and selection process, each CDL site engages senior entrepreneurial leaders, as well as noted scientists, economists, investors and graduate students in the support of new venture founders with a goal to prepare these founders for seed-stage financing and accelerated growth.

The CDL culture is one that engages a team of brilliant people with significant relationship acumen, a strong sales orientation, an innovative mindset, and relentless ambition to create the foundation for world-class venture acceleration.

CDL Recovery will use our objectives-based model and our newly designed virtual convening system to accelerate and enhance the transformation of inventions into products and services under two (2) streams addressing:

Public Health – this includes ventures with technology focuses such as diagnostic tests, tracing technologies, remote treatments etc.
Economic Recovery – this includes ventures with technology focused on enhancing safety for on-site physical work, virtual work, retraining, remote operation, automation, supply chain robustness, food security etc. emerging in the current crisis.
CDL Recovery is focused less on immediate needs, such as the production of ventilators and PPE where initiatives are already underway, and more on needs that will rise in importance over the next six to eighteen months. It is delivered virtually and draws on our global network of over 500 entrepreneurs, business leaders, scientists, inventors, economists and investors as well as on public and private sector partners.
