We are seeking a thoughtful, committed, and always curious Principal Software Engineer (Frontend) to be a thought leader, driving innovation and collaboration across the organization as we continue to scale our Web-driven experiences. You’ll help set technical direction while being hands-on in delivering high-scale and highly-available consumer-facing UXs. If you are enthusiastic about working collaboratively and partnering with teams across GRIN, we’d love to have you join the team!

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop delightful, scalable, and accessible user-facing features and experiences in tight partnership with design, product, and engineering.
  • Partner closely with other leaders and individual contributors across GRIN to deliver solutions that meet consumer and business needs.
  • Provide strategic direction and drive solution architecture for the evolution of Web-driven technologies, building alignment with other technical leaders across GRIN.
  • Drive solution implementation across multiple feature teams.
  • Help build and maintain a healthy engineering culture, being an advocate for diversity and inclusion, across our org.
  • Mentor team members in software best practices and design techniques, helping each to realize their full potential.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 10+ years software engineering experience designing, implementing and shipping complex, highly-distributed software projects in a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent understanding of modern web services and site technologies (ie, cloud computing platforms, HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, JS testing frameworks like Jest/Jasmine/Karma). Broad experience across multiple front-end technologies is preferred.
  • Holistic understanding of client technology including the front-end, APIs, networking, and the browser itself.
  • In depth knowledge of native DOM APIs and core concepts of JavaScript
  • Excellent understanding of VueJS
  • Experience building accessible  (a11y friendly) web applications
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Ability to generate clarity and lead through ambiguity, iterative business goals, and evolving customer needs.
  • Deep customer empathy and focus on delivering high-quality user experiences.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership experience, such as being an architect or tech lead for high impact customer facing projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor others and drive teams to success across an organization
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to condense complex information into simple language for the appropriate audience.
